Weight-loss Secrets
Everyone claims to know the “secret” to weight-loss. The reality is there is no secret. At the end of the day, weight-loss comes down to calorie input and calorie output. So beyond that, it’s important to question what you read about weight-loss.
5 Common Weight-loss Myths
- You’re a slave to your genetics. I sadly used to believe this for the longest time. I believed that I was “big-boned” and destined to forever be the big girl. The truth is willpower is not genetic. And neither is dedication. Therefore, exercising will power regularly, and practicing healthy habits will always help to overcome any genetics. I speak from experience! - You have to eat a very restrictive diet. I used to think that to achieve meaningful weight-loss that I would have to eat a very restricted diet free from flavor and joy. But again, so wrong! Healthy nutrition is about making healthy choices not restricting. There are so many nutrition and meal plans to follow that can help you lose weight healthily. The important thing is to be burning more calories than you’re taking in. The best way to do this is to follow a proper fitness and nutrition program. Need help picking a program? - You have to have an expensive gym membership or trainer. Not at all! I lost over 100 lbs without the use of fancy gym equipment or a trainer. I worked on my willpower (a continuous effort), did simple exercises like walking and running, plus a few proven fitness programs that I did from home. It is more than possible to lose a large amount of weight without once stepping foot into a gym. All the right tools can be found at home too.
- You’re addicted to sugar. This is only kind of a thing. Breaking a sugar addiction is hard but can be done once you commit to the process. Because at the end of the day you can still have sugar, you simply have to have the right sugars. You can learn more about breaking your sugar addiction here and here. When I’m detoxing from sugar, I replace processed sugars with natural sugars like dates, apples, dried fruit, etc. Replace white sugar with natural sugars like coconut palm sugar, maple syrup, or honey. My brain is still getting the little sugar rush it wants but without the sugar turning to fat.
- Weight-loss is a one-time thing. One of the biggest myths out there is that once you complete a diet or program you’re done. No more work. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Weight-loss maintenance takes just as much work as the initial weight-loss. To be successful, you have to be in it for life, and not looking for a quick fix.
Ignore The Weight-Loss Myths.
If I can lose a lot of weight, trust me, so can you! With the right fitness and nutrition program, and support group the life of your dreams can absolutely happen. I’m proof! You simply need to trust yourself to follow through with the hard work. As long as you show up each day for yourself, you will always be successful!
